This was passed along from Tom Klaus at Advocates for Youth.
Please take one minute and 13 seconds to take a look at the trailer of this new film by Jim Winkle. Jim just completed his MPH at the University of Minnesota and his Master’s thesis was a video documentary titled, “Sex Ed and the State”
The documentary follows a bill through the Minnesota legislature during this past legislative session. It is a good educational piece and a terrific advocacy tool.

Although this is about Minnesota, Oregon has the same messed up system for sex education? That’s right, sex ed varies school by school — I met some sixth graders learning about HIV who didn’t even know that proper terms for sexual organs. They hadn’t had sex ed yet.
But that is all going to change soon!
The State Board of Education approved a much stronger administrative law that requires schools to teach sex education, AND to teach all aspects — skills for resisting early sexual involvement, information for those who chose to be sexually active, and no fear messages about this very normal part of life!
