Of all of the holidays that you are supposed to take time and reflect on their meaning, this is the only one that I actually do. I don’t think there is a figure in recent American history who’s message was more important or impact more felt. With the exciting events of tomorrow, this feels exponentially more important than usual.

I feel like Obama is poised to set us all on the right track again and inspire people to all take part in what this country needs to become. For eight years I feel like the only outlet I had was to throw my hands up in frustration, outrage and disgust. Trying to affect change on leaders that shared zero alignment with my priorities and beliefs had us running in circles, and although we were able to make significant local wins over the past few years, I haven’t felt an ounce of pride for my country or our leadership in a very long time.

Well, people, the PRIDE is back and the opportunity is now! Get involved and choose your cause (The Bus is a good one!) because if we speak up now, we will be heard and not ignored as we have been for so long. Happy MLK DAY!
